Lake Maninjau 2009 (26.07.2009)

On the Indonesian island Sumatra, there was a big paragliding event in Mai at Lake Maninjau. Two NOVA Team Pilots, Peter Ertle and Claudio Aimone were there to enjoy the the foreign culture and the flying. They took some pictures worth sharing, and wrote an interesting report about the event as well as about the flying at Lake Maninjau. NOVA Team Meeting in Slovenia (02.03.2009)

Factor, Triton X, and Triton trying to gain hight in the first weak thermal of the day. In the end only Toni Bender was able to stay up. Most probably this was because of the glider. ;-)

St. Hilaire 2008 (21.09.2008)

The trim was to fast on the first flight, so even Raúl had problems to keep the canopy clean below
him. :-)

Balloon Aquarium. (05.10.2007)

Sono quasi le otto del mattino: i piloti si apprestano già ad aprire le vele sul tappeto. E' autunno, il sole si intravede appena all'orizzonte tra le montagne di fronte a noi. Il vento soffia ancora leggermente da dietro, il decollo è molto piano e termina con una parete verticale. Ci troviamo sul decollo più famoso del mondo: St.Hilaire de Touvet.

Alcune persone guardano giù gesticolando qualcosa che suona come: "Adesso è buona, via!"
I primi decollano. Il pilota davanti a me "fa una falsa". Indietreggio di alcuni passi verso il bordo d'uscita del mio IBEX 17: mi concetro e mi preparo a partire.
La vela sale facilmente e dopo alcuni passi mi ritrovo in volo sopra il muro di roccia. Intravedo le prime mongolfiere salire tra la nebbia che si staglia fitta sulla vallata. Alcune salgono più rapidamente: prendo di mira una di loro. E' strano avere un bersaglio che sale dal basso verso l'alto. L'aria è fresca e assolutamente calma. Il panorama è meraviglioso. Dopo alcuni chilometri in linea retta sorpasso la mongolfiera che si trova qualche metro sotto di me. Ne osservo un'altra: è poco più distante. Le giro intorno innescando una virata dinamica e accentuata. Le mongolfiere stanno salendo sempre più numerose e mi ritrovo presto circondato da innumerevoli e gigantesche sfere colorate...

E' un volo da non perdere per nessuna ragione al mondo . Lo raccomando vivamente a chi come me ha avuto la fortuna di trovarsi qui a St.Hilaire in occasione di questa grande manifestazione. E' la ragione principale per cui vale la pena svegliarsi presto al mattino. Una volta in atterraggio conto 26 mongolfiere sopra le nostre teste!
