A couple of months ago we got an email from a group of young people, who presented their idea of  driving through Kazakhstan with a self made "windcarriage". Actually we were quite sceptic, but we liked the crazy idea. That's why we broke away from an old Phelix and we hoped it would bring the sailors good luck.

The tripartite wing did a good job and enabled an eight week trip through the vastness of the steppe. If you can't quite imagine how this has worked, then you are probably not alone. :-)

The five adventurers are working on a film, with the nice name "Hitchhike the Wind", which will show how they managed to do their journey. We will let you know, when the documentary is finished, and where you can watch it.

Wolfi Lechner impresses with his skills as a fork lift driver

After almost 20 years in a cellar facility in the east of Innsbruck we moved to a new home about 20 kilometers east of Innsbruck in Terfens.

The relocation is almost finished, and we are looking forward to some holidays. We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year with some nice experiences in the air and on the ground.

Philipp Medicus and Hilmar Gassner were in Namibia for 10 Days and enjoyed nice soaring conditions on the dunes around Swakopmund. The region is known for its  reliable west wind, which was somehow only blowing on two of those days. :-)

But the namib desert offers lots of dunes for almost any wind direction. All you have to do is to  explore the dunes on foot, which can be exhausting, if you want to cover some distance.

Most of the time the wind was quite strong, mixed with some thermal activity. Philipp and Hilmar had 7 gliders (between 12 and 23sqm) with them, which enabled them to fly in different wind speeds and gather many flights.

Jaspersen is a pilot from Hamburg (Germany). Besides flying, one of his hobbies is film making. About one year ago, he started to work on a film project together with Christian Menn.

The production was premiered this September in St. Hilaire at the Coupe Icare, and won the critics' prize. This is quite outstanding for a german production at a french film festival.

Acabando primero en la clasificación general de la clase sport del XContest mundial, Urs Haari ha demostrado que el MENTOR es la máquina perfecta para volar distancia. O sea, que Urs ha sido capaz de superar a muchísimos pilotos con velas de superior categoría. Cuando le pedimos que nos contara el secreto de su éxito, nos dijo lo siguiente:

Creo que mi resistencia física y mi paciencia han sido bastante importantes. Además, estoy en buena forma física y mental y planeé todos mis vuelos con meticulosidad. Y por último, pero no por ello menos importante, necesito un material de vuelo que me dé el mejor rendimiento posible, sensación de seguridad y me resulte cómodo. Para mí, el Mentor combina todas esas cualidades de manera perfecta. Volando con el Mentor, incluso en condiciones muy movidas, puedo centrarme en el recorrido que quiero volar y no tengo que andar preocupándome por la vela.

Me lo he pasado en grande y ahora, al final de la temporada y por lo que se ve, mi rendimiento ha sido muy bueno.

Tras el récord mundial de Marcel Dettlings (triángulo FAI de 223 km en clase standard) y la victoria en la general final del OLC de 2008 en esa misma clase de Wolfgang Bernhards, Urs demuestra de manera contundente lo que puede hacerse con un MENTOR.

Malgrado l'inverno sia arrivato in anticipo, proseguiamo con i test nell'area di Rofan, sul lago di Achen. La stagione invernale è perfetta per comparare le prestazioni delle varie vele ed effettuare diverse manovre in aria calma.  

Inoltre il paesaggio innevato è uno scenario magnifico: in questa foto potete ammirare Alex che esegue una chiusura frontale con uno dei nostri ultimi prototipi.
