Norway:

Egil Fonn (Tycoon) was flying from Harstad to Lofoten. This very difficult 70km flight is a new record for North Norway.
Congratulation!

Hungary:

Our factory director Peter Mack is flying his RA M 122.7km over the Hungarian hills and flatland!
Well done, Peter: you demonstrated, that even the NOVA management team has good pilots!

Italy:

Our NOVA team member Christian Pichler (Mentor M) was flying a nice 202.8km triangle in South Tirol.
In the flight report he's telling, that it could have easily got a 230km FAI, if no shadow in the Gader-valley.
Great flight, Christian! Nice area! Next time no shadow!
:-)

Marcel is back! (14.05.2008)

Marcel Dettling

Marcel is back and he's taking one's breath away: 223km FAI triangle (446.66 points) with an LTF 1-2 wing (Mentor M).
Congratulations!

Mentor days in Greifenburg (28.04.2008)
print
Wolfgang Bernhard was able to do an amazing 215km flight in Greifenburg on Sunday. Johannes Kronberger, Thomas Ide and Jürgen Teuchert followed close behind with flights of 196km , 195km  and 190km . Wolfang reported, that he was especially pleased by the performance and the behaviour of the MENTOR in very turbulent and rough conditions during the flight. It's not too long ago, that flights like these were considered impossible with the safety of a LTF 1-2 glider. We are glad to enable pilots to push limits further by building high performance serial wings.

Congratulations to all pilots and we are looking forward to more upcoming flights like these!

NOVA XC Flying Camp in Greifenburg (17.04.2008)
print

Kay Tauscher is a paragliding instructor and NOVA Team Pilot, running Peak to Peak Paragliding, a paragliding school in Boulder (Colorado/USA).  As of May 11th until 18th, 2008, she will organise an XC flying camp in Greifenburg, Austria, one of the best spots for long XC flights, also suitable for less experienced XC pilots. Kay will be supported by the NOVA Pilots Team with world-class such as Wolfgang Bernhard and Johannes Kronberger (Austria), Mik Broschart (Germany), and Steve Nash (UK). Pilots interested in the XC Camp should visit www.peaktopeakparagliding.com , there are still places available.

In addition to the Peak to Peak Paragliding Camp, the NOVA Team Pilots offer their expertise to ALL interested XC pilots – pilots from other brands are very welcome as well. Every morning Steve Nash, Wolfgang Bernhard, Mik Broschart, or Johannes Kronberger will do a briefing concerning weather conditions and possible XC routes – FREE OF CHARGE. Meeting point: At 8 o’clock on the camping ground in front of the tent with the NOVA beach flags.

Wolfgang Bernhard in particular is one of the pilots, who established the legendary reputation of the “Emberger Alm”, Greifenburg’s launch site, as a superb XC flying area (XC-Contest link). He will offer his expertise to the paragliding community together with Steve Nash, Johannes Kronberger, and Mik Broschart – all top pilots as well. It is not a must to register for this free service of the NOVA Pilots Team, yet Wolfgang would be pleased about a non-binding mail from the ones interested: wolfgang.bernhard@atb.at .

Concerning Emberger Alm: Plenty of space for the launch, thermals are reliable, and the valleys are wide and open for safe landing on XC flights. Just check www.XContest.org , www.onlindecontest.org or www.xc.dhv.de to see what stunning flight have been done there.

UPDATE:
Several NOVA gliders will be available for test flights.

... unfortunately not a foto from Greifenburg, but a nice XC picture showing 2 Tritons above Achensee :-)

Pilots having great fun with their IBEX wings!
Some of them want to share this with others and publish videos:

Kerim Jaspersen: "The Fehmarn Project": having fun with his IBEX 17 on the German coast.

Ian Ladyman: "Launching Ibex 15": flying his IBEX 15 in strong conditions on the Australian coast.

Thanks, guys!

PMA Meeting Stubai Cup. (01.02.2008)
print

An international PMA (paraglider manufacturers association) meeting took place during the Stubai Cup 2008. More than 25 manufacturers were present.
Apart from the rather dry topics of PMA bylaws, it was agreed among the PMA member circle to fully support the existing institutes for paraglider certification. The unanimous decision proclaims that all PMA members will abstain from self-certification!

As well there was agreement on the following:
All manufacturers who took part in the meeting will give up the name for certification classes ‘DHV1’ or ‘DHV1-2’ but name it ‘LTF1‘ or ‘LTF1-2‘ etc. in the future. This is a political instrument to ensure the acceptance of other test laboratories beside the DHV. Changes in websites, catalogue etc. will be executed step by step now.

Detailed reviews of the MENTOR and the RA (17.12.2007)
print

RA on a XC flight in argentina (Photo: Eduardo Sanches Granel)

Many of you might already know Jerome Daoust and his homepage with an almost unbelievable amount of helpful information for pilots. Jerome has recently gathered some experience with the MENTOR and wrote a great review about his impressions. Here is the Link-> enjoy it!
If you think, that's as detailed, as it can get, you haven't seen the review of Lars Sletten about his RA after one year of flying with it. :-) (Link)

Thanks a lot to those two pilots, for their big effort. We hope, you continue having great experiences with our gliders!

NTT with laser measurement (09.12.2007)
print

The pictures don't show a lightsaber from some science fiction movie but the new line check system
with NOVA NTT and the new laser checking device for more accuracy when measuring the line lengths.

Many Pilots might already know NOVA Trim Tuning (NTT) and some already had the pleasure to experience the advantages of NTT, if they had their glider checked with NTT: The pilot receives a wing that corresponds to the new wing in terms of safety, performance and of course in terms of pleasure of flight

A few months ago we started to use laser measurement to evaluate the line lengths, and we could considerably improve the accuracy: The tolerance of this new system is within +/- 2mm. Every single line is measured with a defined load and is then transmitted via Bluetooth to the PC, where the data is stored and then evaluated. (As explained in the link above)

Our aim is, to offer a check-system, which enables us to offer the pilot a wing, which is identical to the new wing in terms of trim setting. With the laser measurement we were able to get close to this "perfectly adjusted glider" within the whole lifetime of the wing. Even after intensive use and many flight hours.

For the pilot this means increased safety, more performance and more fun!

Some of you might have heard it already:
In 2007, NOVA is once again going to set up a team. Named NOVA PILOTS TEAM.  Currently, 15 pilots from Austria, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Switzerland are part of this team.  Most of them are well-known OLC pilots, as well as competition, and Akro-pilots. Have a look at our TEAM-SITE to get more information about the TEAM PILOTS, their success, and their goals for the upcoming season. If you are interested in the wonderful life as a team-pilot yourself, you should have a look as well. :-)

Mamboo performance measured with 8.6! (22.08.2005)
print

In the newest issue of the Austrian Magazin Gleitschirm the max. l/d of the MAMBOO (DHV 1-2) was measured with 8.6!

Until now only 2 class 2 wings (one of those is the TATTOO) could reach that high performance!
All other DHV 2 wings (even with thin comp. lines) or even a class 2-3 wing can not compete with the MAMBOO (DHV 1-2) in the discipline max. glide!
In it's own class (DHV 1-2) the MAMBOO is leading with around a half glide ratio over most of it's competitors!

Why is the MAMBOO performing that good?
To answer that question, one of our secrets was disclosed in that article: How our Computer can simulate the air stream around a paraglider wing.
See our new Know How section for more infos.
